Euro 2020 was just the cherry on the cake for English Chelsea fans, after the club came from nowhere to win the Champions League, with Thomas Tuchel only having taken the reins in January.
As every football fan knows, the European Championships will go by in a flash and before they know it the new domestic season will be upon them.
Fantasy football participation has been booming throughout 2020/21 as people went about finding ways to get an even closer connection to the clubs and players they love. That obsession seems set to endure into the 2021/22 Premier League season, so it is important that fans keep one eye on the transfer market while they indulge in the summer’s feast of international matches.

This German midfielder is one of those players who makes everything on a football pitch look so easy that many fantasy football fans confuse this with him being lazy or unfocused.
However, ask any of his Chelsea or German national side teammates and they will paint a picture of a man who is always in the right place at the right time.
The scary thing is that he has achieved so much at the tender age of just 22 without ever really having hit top gear and there are clues from his Bundesliga days that next season could be the one in which he truly breaks out as a Ballon d’Or contender as well as a name that must be on every fantasy football team sheet.
This is because he started life at Bayer Leverkusen as a midfielder before being promoted to striker and when this happened a dramatic transformation took place, with Havertz suddenly scoring goals for fun and boasting a lethal shots-to-goals ratio. As fantasy football managers start agonising over small details and pouring over stats spreadsheets, one of the main things they must consider is whether Tuchel will copy Leverkusen, and have Havertz usurp his compatriot Timo Werner as the Blues’ main striker. If that happens, then Havertz could be nailed on to score upwards of 30 goals next season, and will no doubt cost a fraction of what someone like Harry Kane or Mo Salah will.

Mason Mount – An England Star Living Up to the Hype
The nice thing about the Chelsea squad at the moment is that it isn’t just packed with expensive foreign stars, but also has a solid backbone of British born talent.
A fine example of this is the 22-year-old Mason Mount who almost seems to have come along at the perfect time to replace the goal-getting midfielders of yesteryear like Frank Lampard.
While last season he was in and out of the team, it was becoming increasingly difficult for Tuchel to deny him a starting berth and with other midfielders in the squad like Christian Pulisic constantly suffering injuries, Mount could feature far more next season. With his propensity to score goals and provide assists, he is a player who any fantasy football team would be glad to have in their midst.
Édouard Mendy – A Beautiful Rags-to-Riches Story
There is no safer pair of hands in world football at the moment than Senegalese stopper Édouard Mendy and it is only his nationality which holds him back from getting the plaudits he deserves.
With boundless athletic ability and a mental calmness that rubs off on all of those around him, Mendy is one of the few Premier League goalies who can deliver meaningful points for a fantasy football team. And all this after having been unemployed for a large part of his formative years as a keeper. He is sure to never suffer that problem again.
