7 Chelsea warriors who have stepped up right when we needed them – Talk Chelsea

Chelsea have had one of their best ever weeks in football this week, turning over both Real Madrid and Manchester City – two teams that are considered as the best in the world.

We beat Real Madrid to make the Champions League final, then yesterday we beat the destined Premier League winners this season 2-1 to spoil their champions party.

One major thing that has played a part in our turnaround since Thomas Tuchel arrived in January other than the obvious affects he himself has had, is the amount of leadership that we now have on that pitch.

Tuchel likes to play with a good mix of experience and young talent, but one thing this Chelsea squad has lacked for a good few years now is leaders and warriors.

When the chips were down, so were heads, and the Chelsea players liked to hide away. I cannot pinpoint exactly what has changed, but clearly Tuchel has had a positive affect on player mentalities and boosted morale, but so has the good run of form. It is evident to see a vast change in many players, but it is a change we have so desperately needed for some time.

We don’t know if these said warriors will still keep stepping up if things started to go wrong, I like to think they would now, especially as we seem to have so many of them.

Even out of the ones not mentioned here there are arguments for the likes of Reece James, Kurt Zouma, and others to be included. But for me, these 7 players have been absolute warriors for Chelsea and Tuchel these last few months, and it has come at a time when we really needed them.

Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta, Mason Mount, Jorginho, Edouard Mendy, N’Golo Kante, and Thiago Silva have all bought in real leadership and have become proper warriors for this team.

Something we needed, and something that is really helping our great success right now.
