West Ham match a 6-pointer as top 4 qualification becomes paramount – Talk Chelsea

It’s time to silence the noise of the last few days and refocus on the Premier League and getting that all important top four spot.

This is not just aimed at the players, but the fans as well. We must ignore for now at least, the circus, drama, shock, and anger of the last few days and fully get behind the players, the manager, and his staff as we play our most important game of the season so far.

With the doubts surrounding what punishment (if any) that clubs will get from UEFA for trying to form this breakaway league, the financial rewards of just qualifying for the Champions League are now hugely paramount.

If Chelsea are to be hit with a large fine for their part in the Super League launch, although we are not in any bad financial situations right now, that prize money is hugely important for our transfer plans this summer, and for the general running of the club moving forward.

The West Ham match is a true 6-pointer, and I think that term gets branded around too often. But make no mistake, with Chelsea sat in 4th place in the league purely on goal difference ahead of West Ham in 5th place, getting 3 points against West Ham and firmly keeping the task in our own hands, is hugely important.

We could excuse the players for one of the worst performances we have witnessed for a long time against Brighton in the week due to the massive distraction of everything that was going on.

But this is why it is now so important that we calm that down for tomorrow at least and focus on the big match, then we can get back to fighting the good fight again next week!
