Full Houses in Thailand for Kim Gitae and Lin Tzu-Yu

Imposing performances from start to finish, Korea Republic’s Kim Gitae and Chinese Taipei’s Lin Tzu-Yu emerged the most successful players on duty at the ITTF Thailand Para Open 2022, when proceedings concluded on Thursday 21st July.

Each completed a clean sweep of titles.

Partnering colleagues, Kim Gitae joined forces with Sin Nahea to secure class 22 mixed doubles gold, before in the same category claiming men’s doubles success in harness with Kim Changgi.

One day earlier Kim Gitae had emerged the men’s singles class 11 winner.

Likewise, Lin Tzu-Yu added to her women’s singles class 9-10 title. Competing in class 20 and on each occasion with a compatriot, she partnered Su Jin-Sian to mixed gold, prior to enjoying women’s doubles success alongside Tian Shiau-Wen.

Success for Su Jin-Sian meant he ended the day with two titles; the previous day he had claimed men’s singles class 10 gold.

In a similar vein their were two titles for Jean-Paul Montanus and Kelly van Zon of the Netherlands, a situation that also applied to Thailand’s Wanchai Chaiwut and Dararat Asayut in addition to Korea Republic’s Park Jungsoo and Hong Kong’s Ng Ming Wui.

Jean-Paul Montanus and Kelly van Zon combined to win mixed doubles class 14; earlier Jean-Paul Montanus had prevailed in men’s singles class 8, Kelly van Zon in women’s singles class 7-8.

Similar to the efforts of the Netherlands’ duo, Wanchai Chaiwut and Dararat Asayut proved to be in harmony to win mixed doubles class 7. The success came after Wanchai Chaiwut had gained men’s singles class 4 success and Dararat Asayut had prevailed in women’s singles class 1-3.

Somewhat differently, Park Jungsoo, the men’s singles class 1 winner, partnered colleague Park Jungsoo to men’s doubles class 4 gold; Ng Ming Wui after her women’s singles class 11 title, claimed the top prize in women’s doubles class 22 alongside teammate Wong Ting Ting.

Meanwhile, in the men’s doubles there was success in class 8 for Korea Republic’s Kim Younggun and Lee Jun, as there was in class 14 for Chile’s Cristian Dettoni and Matias Pino Lorca.

Not to be overshadowed, the host nation’s Bunpot Sillapakong and Phisit Wangphonphathanasiri emerged the men’s doubles class 18 winners, Japan’s Toru Nakamoto and Kimie Besso secured the top prize in mixed doubles class 10.

A short break, the next para tournament on the horizon is the three day Finland Para Open commencing on Friday 9th September in Pajulahti.
