WORCESTER – A year after dropping a heartbreaker to Concord-Carlisle in the state finals, No. 1 Longmeadow traveled to Worcester State on Tuesday night with the chance to put away some demons. It took everything the Lancers had in them against a stout No. 3 Billerica squad, but in the end, Coleson Hanrahan got it done when it mattered.
After trailing for much of the night, Longmeadow fought back to tie the game late. Hanrahan dumped home a feed from Dom Veratti off the opening face-off of the second overtime to win the Division II state championship by a final of 9-8.
