Tottenham Hotspur: Fans left furious at the club following Jules Kounde news

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to the latest transfer news surrounding their club.

There have been some changes at the club this summer, most notably in the dugout with the appointment of former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo as head coach and Fabio Paratici as director of football, but there is yet to be any changes on the pitch when it comes to player arrivals.

And that wait looks set to continue, as according to Spanish outlet Marca, Sevilla defender Jules Koundé has rejected a move to north London.

Premier League 19/20

This comes after a report from journalist Gianluca Di Marzio suggesting that the two clubs had agreed a swap deal for his services, with Davinson Sanchez going the other way as part of the deal.

The news was relayed to fans via @TheSpursExpress on Twitter, with some of them using his refusal to join as a symbol of just what the club has become over the years:

“We have gone from 1st rate to 3rd rate Europe what’s to be expected thank you Mr Levy #LevyOut #ENICOUT

“Ahh we’ve become Arsenal finally. Minus the trophies of course, just the slow steady decline after moving into a new stadium”

“Ouch.  That Champions League final was 2019 btw. It’s 2021 and we’re firmly in the mud.”

“I’m actually done”

“No surprises, only disappointments”

“I mean, if you expected anything other than this you’re an extremely optimistic person”

“The stadium and training ground aren’t the game-changers the deluded thought then! If only we invested when we were fighting at the top rather than setting records for time not buying players.”

Are Tottenham a ‘big club’?

Yes

Yes

No

No

You can sort of understand the reaction here, as the fact they haven’t managed to push on from their 2019 Champions League run and that they are still waiting to end their trophy drought does kind of indicate that they might not be as big as they think they are.
