LA Galaxy to Host Sacramento Republic FC in Quarterfinal Round of Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup

LOS ANGELES – The LA Galaxy will play host to USL Championship side Sacramento Republic FC in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Dignity Health Sports Park on Tuesday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m. PT live on ESPN+. The LA Galaxy advanced to the Quarterfinals of the tournament following a 3-1 win over LAFC in the Round of 16 in front of a club U.S. Open Cup record 24,174 fans on May 25.

Dating back to their first U.S. Open Cup match in 1999, the LA Galaxy hold an all-time record of 35-17-1 in 53 matches played in the competition and have been crowned champions twice (2001 and 2005). The match between LA and Sacramento will mark the second all-time meeting of the two teams. The first time the Galaxy and Sacramento squared off, LA earned a 2-0 win over Republic FC in the Round of 16 of the US. Open Cup at Dignity Health Sports Park on June 28, 2017.

LA advanced to the Quarterfinals after wins over San Diego Loyal SC in the Third Round on April 20, California United Strikers FC in the Round of 32 on May 12 and LAFC in the Round of 16 on May 25. The last time the Galaxy advanced to the Semifinal Round of the U.S. Open Cup was in 2016.

LA returns to MLS action when it plays host to Austin FC at Dignity Health Sports Park Sunday, May 29. The match on May 29 kicks off at 3:00 p.m. PT, featuring a national broadcast on UniMás and TUDN.
