Josip Juranovic to Celtic transfer news as Ange Postecoglou ‘prioritises’ Croatia defender

Celtic have made Josip Juranovic their new transfer priority, according to reports in Croatia.

Ange Postecoglou is on the lookout for a new right-back and various names have been linked with a switch to Celtic Park this summer.

Aurelio Buta was tipped as the early target but interest from the English Premier League appears to have killed that one dead.

Manchester City’s Yan Couto was then lined up as an alternative and he attended Celtic’s win over Jablonec in the Europa League.

But new reports have suggested Braga are in for the Brazilian so that may also be a non-starter.

Juranovic’s name has been in the background all throughout the window and it’s now being reported by Croatian outlet Index that the Hoops have made him their priority.

That comes after the Daily Record claimed last week that Celtic were lining up a £10m double transfer for Juranovic and striker Thomas Henry.

Given Henry is expected to set them back around £7m, that would mean the Parkhead side have £3m set aside for their new right-back.

But Index say the offer on the table from Celtic is nowhere near what Legia Warsaw are looking for.

They do however say that Postecoglou’s team aren’t discouraged and are pushing hard to get the deal done as soon as possible.
