Ryan Christie nears Celtic exit as Hoops star ‘very keen’ on French move

French duo Monaco and Nice are stepping up their interest in Ryan Christie, according to a report.

And the Celtic star is believed to be ‘very keen’ in moving to Ligue 1 and could push through a move this summer.

Christie’s contract runs in January in a rare move that sees a player’s deal finish half way through a season, and this is Celtic’s final chance to get money for him.

And the Sunday Post report that both Ligue 1 clubs are extremely interested in taking him to France and hope they can get a deal done soon.

Christie has been a key player for Celtic over recent seasons but attracted a lot of criticism last year under Neil Lennon.

The former Inverness Caley Thistle man was criticised for his decision making as he regularly took on long range shots instead of looking for a pass.

He was also hooked at half time in Scotland’s 2-0 defeat to Czech Republic in the Euro 2020 opener at Hampden last week after a disappointing performance.

Ange Postecoglou will still hope to convince him to stay at Celtic Park and potentially sign a new deal but it’s likely he’ll have to plan for life without him.
