Everton have started the new season with aplomb and they look well placed to finally achieve a place in Europe again.
Rafa Benitez arrived amid controversy but he has defied the critics and now the Toffees are one point off top spot.
What’s the word?
Everton are restricted quite significantly at the moment in the transfer market with the Merseyside outfit spending just £1.7m over the summer window.
With that in mind, Benitez may have to target cheaper acquisitions in January again.
One player who has been on their radar for a while now is Aaron Ramsey. He was linked with a move to Goodison over the last few months but they remain interested according to reports.
Should Everton sign Ramsey?

He will be cleared to return to England if he wants to come back and he may find several suitors in the form of West Ham, Newcastle and Everton.
It’s also thought Juve will allow him to move on for free.
Imagine him & Doucoure
Ramsey might not be someone who’s played much football since his move to Italy a few years ago but he’s a mightily experienced footballer.
The Welshman has played 262 times in the Premier League and has won multiple FA Cup trophies during his time in England.
Everton have already seen the benefit of bringing in a player with plenty of know-how this summer after the arrival of Andros Townsend.
It didn’t look like an eye-catching signing on paper but the winger is the club’s top scorer this term and has been outstanding after penning terms.
Townsend has found the back of the net on four occasions and has also registered three assists in the royal blue of Everton.
Ramsey isn’t as attacking as the former England international but he knows what it takes to perform in the English top-flight and he could strike an excellent partnership with Abdoulaye Doucoure.
While the Frenchman would bring the muscle and lung-busting strides forward from midfield, Ramsey is someone who would complement that nicely with poise and tenacity.
Dubbed “outstanding” by Martin Keown, his worth ethic is tireless and like Doucoure, he has the ability to defend well but also attack with intent.
That’s something that would set him apart from the likes of Tom Davies and Andre Gomes; two individuals who are finding their game time limited.
Last term, Ramsey scored just twice but assisted his teammates on four occasions. Traditionally, the midfielder adds more goals to his game than that, scoring as many as ten in the league throughout 2013/14 and then netting seven in 2017/18.
That trait could be vital alongside the more defensive Doucoure, but it will also be important now James Rodriguez has left.
On a free transfer, there would be little reason to complain about this deal. He is a proven player with experience at elite-level clubs.
