Natalya Set To Face Ronda Rousey For The SmackDown Women’s Title

On the June 3 episode of SmackDown, there was a six-pack challenge to determine the number one contender for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

The participants included Raquel Rodriguez, Shotzi, Aliyah, Xia Li, Natalya, and Shayna Baszler. In the end, it would be Natalya pinning Shotzi to get the victory and the opportunity to face Rousey in the future with the gold on the line. There was no date given for their match.

Prior to the match starting, Rousey made her way out to ringside to have a seat by commentary to watch the bout. Rodriguez and Shotzi entered the ring first and second. Aliyah’s music hit after Shotzi was entering the ring. Aliyah would not appear and it turns out that she was locked in the women’s locker room as payback for Aliyah doing the same thing to Shotzi last week.

After the rest of the women made it into the ring, Shotzi would try to convince the referee to ring the bell but Aliyah made her way into the ring just in time. She targeted Shotzi immediately as the two spilled to the outside.

The match had good moments for each woman to show off their talents. It came down to Rodriguez thinking she had the match won after taking out both Shotzi and Natalya. She took them both out in the corner with the spinning corkscrew elbow. Rodriguez followed it up with a one-arm powerbomb to Shotzi. She couldn’t capitalize as Baszler locked in the Kirifuda Clutch. While Baszler was trying to make Rodriguez tap or pass out, Natalya became the opportunist and covered Shotzi pinning her for the three count.

It was confirmed that Lacey Evans is indeed back on SmackDown. PWInsider reported yesterday that she had made a move once again and is now back on the blue brand.

A vignette was aired saying that she will be back next week.
