Mustangs use depth to get by Royals, 7-2

FAIRFIELD — The Rodriguez High girls tennis team lost the first two singles matches and won everything else in straight sets for a 7-2 Monticello Empire League victory over Armijo, Monday.

Sisters Faustina Wan and Flora Wan garnered 6-2, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-2 wins, respectively, for the Indians (1-3).

The rest of the singles matches were won by Mustangs, who got victories from Riley Mark at No. 3 (7-5, 6-1), Bella Connerley at No. 4 (6-1, 6-1), Emily Hefner at No. 5 (6-4, 6-4) and Hannah Pierleoni at No. 6 (6-0, 6-3).

Doubles winners for Rodriguez were Jacki Laffey and Kayla Lee at No. 1 (6-0, 6-1), Danielle Murphy and Julianna Roxas at No. 2 (6-0, 6-0) and Shayla Prasad and Madie Rote at No. 3 (6-4, 6-4).

Vanden 9, Fairfield 0: At Vanden, the Vikings improved to 5-0 by defeating the Falcons, losing just four games along the way.

Singles winners for Vanden  were Sasha Smith at No. 1 (6-0, 6-0), Maya Khanna at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1), Delany Ramsell at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0), Jasmine Yabut at No. 4 (6-0, 6-0), Paige Van Pelt at No. 5 (6-0, 6-1) and Camille Arca at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0).

In doubles, Maritza Garcia and Jeanelle DelaCruz prevailed at No. 1 (6-1, 6-1), while Hailey Lam and Danali Hardwick at No. 2 and Maia Larsen and Kaylani Payne at No. 3 won by forfeit.

Vacaville 9, Wood 0: At Vacaville, the Bulldogs (3-2) didn’t drop a set in the six singles matches, the only ones contested.

Prevailing for Vacaville on the court were Nia Macay at No. 1 (6-1, 6-0), Katelyn Crismon at No. 2 (6-0, 6-0), Julie Persinger at No. 3 (6-3, 6-1), Stephanie Esquivel at No. 4 (6-0, 6-0), Victoria Silva at No. 5 (6-1, 6-0) and Lauren Hill at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0).

Winning by default were the doubles teams of Sophie Foderaro and Gabriella Camilli at No. 1, Angelina Escano and Jordan Salyer-Gummoe at No. 2, and Alyssa Jaurique and Hadel Marini at No. 3.
