Augustana Women’s Tennis Bests UMary, 7-0

BISMARCK, N.D. — The Augustana women’s tennis team won 7-0 against UMary on Saturday evening at the Capitol Racquet and Fitness Center in Bismarck, North Dakota. The 7-0 victory marked the eighth-consecutive time the Vikings have swept their competition this season.

Augustana is now 9-1 on the year while UMary falls to 5-3. 

The freshmen duo in Valeriya Monko and Florentia Hadjigeorgiou are still undefeated in the No. 1 doubles, winning 6-3. 

At No. 2 doubles Laura Arce Vierya and partner Grace Goble were victorious winning 6-2 while Aleksandra Kistanova and Emily Granson took No. 3 doubles to solidify the doubles point, winning 6-1.

In singles action, two Vikings in Margarita Chouliara and Aleksandra Kistanova both claimed double bagels going 6-0, 6-0, in the No. 4 and No. 5 slots, respectively.

Monko remains undefeated in the No. 1 position going 6-2, 6-2 against Tasha Dembo.

Also gaining wins to ensure the Viking sweep was Florentia Hadjigeorgiou and Emily Granson, both winning 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 2 and No. 5 positions, respectively.

The Vikings return to action Sunday with more NSIC play coming against MSU Moorhead slated for a 9 a.m. start in Bismarck.
