Ugandan International Philip Wokorach scored 18 points as AS Bédarrides-Châteauneuf du Pape (A.S.B.C) started off the Federal 1 campaign with a 31-29 win against the US Issoirienne in the first match of the season played on Sunday.
In the first half, Wokorach bagged a try and added two penalties for 11 points for his side. At the other end, Baptiste Berthoule drilled in three penalties and a conversion while Julien Orluc touched down for a 16-11 lead for Issoirienne.
Quentin Alary then landed the second try for ASBC which Wokorach converted for an 18-16 lead on return from the break. A penalty try followed taking the scores to 25-16 in favour of ASBC.
Hugo Breuil bagged two penalties and a converted try while Wokorach slotted two penalties for a 31-29.
“Blessed n grateful to run out with the @asbc_officiel family for the second season. A bit rusty n a tough one but I thank God for the win away from home vs @issoirerugbyofficiel We take the positives n work on the negatives,” Wokorach posted.
They have four points after the opening round.
