Football journalist Luke Hatfield has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of Wolves potentially signing Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne.

Journalist Ekrem Konur recently tweeted that Insigne has “not yet responded positively to Napoli’s offers” over a potential new deal, adding that Wolves and fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace are “closely monitoring” his situation.
That led to fellow report, Hatfield, telling GIVEMESPORT that he thinks it could be “a little bit of an ask” for the Italian to leave Napoli for Wolves, but that “crazier things” have happened.
Strength in depth
So far this season, Wolves have picked up a rather mixed bag of Premier League results under new manager Bruno Lage, winning three and losing four of their opening seven league games.
One potential issue, however, is the fact that the Old Gold have only managed to score five league goals in the process, leaving Norwich City the only Premier League club to have scored fewer goals at this point of the season with just two.
Insigne, who is a product of Napoli’s youth system, made his senior debut for the Italian club back in January 2010.
Since then, the 30-year-old, who is currently valued at £43.2m according to Transfermarkt, has made a total of 406 appearances for the club across all competitions in which he has managed to rack up 111 goals and 88 assists in the process.
Additionally, Insigne also played a big part in Italy’s Euro 2020 campaign the saw the winger score two goals in six appearances. That ultimately earned him an overall performance rating of 7.19/10, making him the fourth-highest rated player that started more than one match for Italy in the tournament according to WhoScored.

Taking all of this into account, it’s easy to see why the Midlands club are keeping an eye on Insigne’s current situation at Napoli with a potential move for the winger on the table in the future. His goal-scoring antics would be perfect for a side that are currently struggling in that department.
In our view, Insigne would give Wolves a lot of experience and goalscoring talent, something the fans would undeniably be buzzing about after their inconsistent start to the season with very few goals.
If they were able to tempt him away from Napoli to try his hand in the Premier League, which they should definitely consider doing if they see an opportunity to do so.
