Arsenal issue ‘significant injury’ statement on Granit Xhaka

After a lot of positives for Arsenal, fresh off a 3-1 victory over arch north London rivals Tottenham, the club are dealing with the news that Granit Xhaka has sustained an injury that is likely to keep him out for three months.

Xhaka was a surprise name in the starting XI this past Sunday, but excelled and was key to a first half demolition of Spurs. However, Arsenal have issued a statement stating that the Swiss midfielder ‘suffered a significant injury to his medial knee ligament’.

The only positive here is that Xhaka won’t require surgery and that ‘rehabilitation programme will start immediately’.

The obvious replacements for Mikel Arteta heading into gameweek seven against Brighton in the Premier League this weekend are Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
