What next for Crystal Palace in their manager search? An EPL Legend

[ad_1]

Time is ticking away by the day and the Premier League season is around the corner. Worryingly, there are teams in a desperate search for a new manager, one such team being Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace were so close to naming their new manager last week before a massive U-turn was taken by Lucien Favre. The deal, in fact, was edging so near to completion, transfer plans were already in play.

Now that a thorough search has been completed, it looks like Lucien Favre is set to become the new manager ahead of the upcoming season. It is being reported that the deal signed will see Favre stay at Selhurst Park until 2024. (Via: thetopflight.com)

No more than 24 hours later, Lucien Favre decided against moving to South London, making it appear that early transfer planning was nothing more than premature celebrations for nothing. However, Palace fans need not despair as they seemed to have found the man to begin their new exciting era.

The next in line to take over at Selhurst Park is said to be Patrick Vieira

A manager with loads of Premier League experience but as a player only – indeed a legend of the game and for Arsenal Football Club. It is understood that Patrick Vieira and Crystal Palace have a verbal agreement in place for him to become the new head coach.

But, before we get too excited, they do explain that nothing is been signed on paper yet, much like the previous two failed attempts – one being the aforementioned Favre and the other ex-Wolves boss, Nuno Espírito Santo.

Nothing has been signed yet, as reported by David Ornstein earlier, with Vieira the third manager in three weeks where terms have been agreed, but Palace now expect this deal to go through.

The board had hoped Lucien Favre would change his mind over the weekend, with the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss opting not to take charge in a late U-turn last week, but moved focus to Vieira shortly after. (Via: skysports.com)

Patrick Vieira has been around the world

Besides being a Premier League great and an ex-Gunner captain, Vieira has had a long run as a manager all over the world – spreading from Manchester City as one of their youth developers to the MLS with New York City FC.

His most recent work in France with Ligue 1 outfit, Nice, ended in disappointment following a bad run of results – they lost a series of five games across all competitions, as well as getting eliminated in the Europe League – they lost both Round of 32 fixtures against Loko Moscow.

Time is of the essence for the Eagles and Monday next week is the deadline set by the club to find their new man. If this doesn’t materialise there are others shortlisted, as per reports.
