Tottenham Hotspur: Fans react to centre-back link

Spurs fans have been reacting on Twitter to the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding the football club after the appointment of new manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

The former Wolves boss hadn’t been in the door long when his new club started being linked to his former players, as Football Insider reported that Spurs are ready to battle it out with Everton for Nuno’s captain at Wolves, Conor Coady.

Fans responded to the claims, with many far from impressed.

“Well it’s not down to Nuno who we sign. Paratici makes them decisions.”

“No no no! Neto neves but nobody else from there! So many better CB options for us to buy. He’s 28 on a 4-year contract, homegrown, not gonna be cheap!”

Judging from the responses from Spurs fans, many of them would be against the signing of the Wolves captain and would rather the club explored alternative options.

Liverpudlian Coady joined Wolves in 2015 after spending a year at Huddersfield Town having come through the academy at Liverpool. Wolves paid just over £2.5 million for Coady but his value, according to Transfermarkt, currently stands at £22.5m – the highest it has ever been – with Coady being called up to the England squad for the European Championships this summer, so Spurs may have to pay an increased fee for the services of the 28-year-old.

It is reasonable to say that after looking at the Spurs squad, Nuno may feel that centre-back is an area that Tottenham will need to address this summer, but it seems like supporters of the north London club believe that Coady isn’t the right man.
