West Ham edge out Manchester City
West Ham ended Manchester City’s domination of the Carabao Cup with a shock result, knocking them out on penalties in the fourth round of the competition.

Having downed Manchester United in the third round, there must have been sighs from Irons fans far and wide when it emerged that their next opponents were none other than Manchester City, the side that have won the last five consecutive Carabao Cups.
However, in a major upset, the east London club held their nerve to edge out Pep Guardiola and co. on penalties, after it finished 0-0 after 90 minutes. The Hammers were immaculate with their spot-kicks, meaning that Phil Foden’s early miss proved, ultimately, decisive, and sent the London Stadium into bedlam.
West Ham join Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Chelsea, Brentford, Sunderland and Leicester City in the quarter-finals of the competition, with the draw to be made on Saturday morning.
More good news for Hammers fans as potential takeover looms
In further exciting news for an ever-increasingly impressing West Ham, they could soon have new ownership.
As per Sky Sports:
A Czech-based billionaire is within days of agreeing the purchase of a big stake in West Ham United that could lead to a full takeover.

Given the recent additions of Vladimir Coufal, Thomas Soucek and Alex Kral, all of whom are Czech, it is clear to see the appeal.
As per the latest reports, Billionaire Daniel Kretinsky, who also owns Slavia Prague, is looking to buy a 27 per cent stake in West Ham for around £700million. Kretinsky also owns Slavia Prague, so it easy to see how the connection has come about given recent dealings between the two clubs.
It would spell the end of the unpopular Gold Sullivan and Brady era should he, as expected, increase his stake to take full control of the club in coming seasons.
For West Ham and their fans, it is more excitement in what could be a brilliant season.
