Manchester City and Norwich City look to bounce back from opening weekend defeats, as Pep Guardiola’s Citizens welcome Daniel Farke’s Canaries to Etihad Stadium.
After suffering defeats on the opening weekend, both teams will be chasing their first win of the season as they seek to climb into the top ten depending on results elsewhere.

Ilkay Gundogan is set to return for Man City after training as normal this week despite suffering a shoulder injury in their opening defeat at Tottenham last Sunday (15 August).
Phil Foden (ankle) and Liam Delap (foot) are ruled out.
Norwich could welcome Andrew Omobamidele back into the matchday squad after tonsillitis kept the defender out of their opening loss to Liverpool last weekend.
Onel Hernandez, Przemyslaw Placheta and Jordan Hugill are doubtful after spending time in self-isolation following a positive Coronavirus test, and could join Sam Byram (thigh) on sidelines.
Stat Attack
- Man City have lost just one of their last six league meetings against Norwich (W3, D2, L1), with all three victories coming at home.
- Norwich have won just one of nine previous Premier League trips to Man City (W1, D2, L6).
- The Canaries are yet to be awarded a penalty kick against Manchester City after 18 previous Premier League meetings in this fixture.
- Man City have lost just one of their five opening home matches in a new season under Pep Guardiola (W2, D2, L1).
- Norwich have lost just one of their last five opening away trips in a new season (W2, D2, L1).
Prediction
After suffering their first defeat on the opening weekend of a new campaign for the first time since August 2008, Man City come into this game looking to avoid another defeat but their finishing must first improve after wasting many chances with sloppy defending ultimately costing them a point.
Norwich meanwhile won’t be surprised to have lost to Liverpool but their defence was quite impressive in a robust display to keep the Reds out for much of the match, especially after often being left defensively exposed by a lacklustre midfield whilst attack failed to offer much involvement.
This though feels like Man City’s to lose after having a further week to get key players back to full fitness, yet if Norwich can deliver another strong defensive display and their midfield plus attack improve then this could get interesting but I am going for a home win.
Prediction: Manchester City 2-0 Norwich City
