Frank Lampard verdict on Norwich City vacancy is out

Norwich City are pushing night and day to solve their managerial issues out with Frank Lampard and Dean Smith’s name popping up as the top contenders; now it appears that Lampard is out of the race leaving the former Aston Villa man in pole position.

Following the departure of Daniel Farke a week ago, 6 November, the club have been working hard to replace him. For the most part, considering his departure was surprisingly announced just as he led Norwich to their first victory of the 2021/22 Premier League campaign.

Although it must be noted, the Atheltic were adamant in their reporting about the situation and made it clear he was always going to see the exit doors, win or lose against Brentford.

As reported on The Athletic, Farke’s sacking was going to happen irrespective of what happened at Brentford. No new manager has yet been announced at Carrow Road, but they are certainly searching. (Via: thetopflight.com)

Frank Lampard and Norwich deal dead

Excitement started to creep in following the news that the Canaries’ hierarchy was initiating talks with former Chelsea and Derby County manager Frank Lampard. The talks began on Monday past and were believed to be progressing slowly.

Sadly, this was because Lampard himself was not convinced of what was being said, ultimately deciding to end discussions altogether to take over the last-placed team. This is a massive blow for the Canaries knowing they could have had one of the best young managers in English football today.

Even if the team placed last was to get relegated as predicted, he would certainly be fit for the challenge in the EFL Championship, a platform he and the club could have built one strong Premier League club.

Not all is lost with Dean Smith in the mix

Just about six days since the Englishman was given his marching orders at Villa Park, he now could find his way back into the Premier League and a chance at another long-term project.

As per reports, Smith is closing in on taking the vacant managers post at Carrow Road. Not the best candidate of those available but one that will fight till the final whistle.
