Even without Pulga Rodríguez Colón’s fine start to the season continued as the Sabalero came from behind to beat Platense.
A superb Facundo Curuchet goal on the counter had given Platense a first half lead against the Group A leaders but a clever flick from Santiago Pierotti brought Colón level and soon after a Wilson Morelo penalty turned the game. Rafael Delgado added a third in stoppage time to make sure and Eduardo Domínguez’s side now clear at the top are well on course for their place in the next round.
Banfield missed the chance to keep pace with Colón and were grateful once more to the goalscoring talents of Giuliano Galoppo that it wasn’t defeat in Mar del Plata.
Fernando Gago’s rejuvenated Aldosivi were much the better side and deservedly led just after half time, Federico Andrada sliding in his sixth goal of the season.
And when Banfield saw Luciano Lollo sent off 20 minutes from time victory for Aldosivi looked almost certain. Yet just as he has done on numerous occasions over the past six months Galoppo found a pocket of space in the penalty box and the 21-year-old’s 84th minute bicycle kick earned the Taladro a point.
Central Córdoba moved level with Banfield in second after salvaging a late draw themselves away to Rosario Central.
Marco Ruben’s penalty had given Central the lead late in the first half only for Leonardo Sequeira to equalise for the visitors with his third of the campaign.
Damián Martínez restored the lead just after the hour mark and it looked to be enough until deep in added time when Milton Giménez bent in an inch-perfect free-kick.
And finally in La Paternal, Argentinos Juniors twice came from behind to beat Arsenal 3-2.
Alan Ruiz’s opener for the visitors was eventually cancelled out by Jonathan Sandoval after Gabriel Ávalos had already seen a penalty saved by Alejandro Medina.
Yet Argentinos Juniors were only level for a minute before Jhonatan Candia restored Arsenal’s lead.
Ávalos brought the hosts level once more and with the game increasingly stretched Argentinos saw the striker, and then Gabriel Hauche, both sent off. Yet despite being down to ten men, Elías Gomez’s deflected effort put the home side in front for the first time three minutes from time and when Arsenal had Mateo Carabajal given his marching orders, the Bichos held on for the win.
