Thomas Tuchel is line for a new deal, after guiding Chelsea to a second Champions League crown following victory over Manchester City in the showpiece on Saturday.
The German’s impact on the Blues has been nothing short of remarkable, having sparked a rapid change in fortunes after only taking the job back in January, following a disappointing start to the season under club legend Frank Lampard.
After switching to a back three, the improvement in performances appeared almost instantaneous, the former Paris Saint-Germain boss managing to guide the club to a fourth-placed finish, despite having been in ninth when he initially took charge.
Although there was the disappointment of an FA Cup final defeat to Leicester City a few weeks ago, it’s undoubtedly been an exceptional end to the campaign for the Blues, capped by their European triumph, courtesy of Kai Havertz’s first-half strike.
Following that victory – the 47-year-old having lost in the final last year with Paris Saint-Germain – it would now appear that he is set to be rewarded with a new contract, as per Goal.
The report outlines that Tuchel will be handed an extension to his initial 18-month deal, the new deal set to run until at least 2023.
The former Borussia Dortmund hinted as much after Saturday’s triumph, while also admitting that hie encounter with owner Roman Abramovich after the game was the first time the two men had actually met in person.

“I’m not even 100 per cent sure, but maybe I have a new contract now,” Tuchel said at his post-match press conference. “It can be, my manager said something about it, but I do not know. So let’s check this first.
“I spoke to the owner right now on the pitch, this was the best moment for a first meeting. Or the worst, because from now on it can only get worse! We will speak tomorrow, speak later, speak tomorrow, and looking forward to this.
“I can assure him that I will stay hungry, that I want the next title and I feel absolutely happy, as a part of a really ambitious club, a strong part of a strong group. That suits my belief and my passion for football at the moment perfectly.
“So my desire is to go for more victories, to grow as a coach and to push the group on the first day of the next season to the limit. We have work to do to close the gap, and this is what I’m all about. And so it will be nice to meet him a bit closer.
“We are in contact but not personally, he knows what’s going on from me directly. But now it’s nice to meet him.”
