Tottenham Hotspur: Alasdair Gold talks about club’s potential interest in Steven Gerrard

Tottenham Hotspur journalist Alasdair Gold has recently talked about the club’s potential interest in hiring Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard, who is currently in charge of Scottish Premiership side Rangers, has been linked with a move to Everton in the past few weeks. More recently, the Englishman has also been linked with the vacant manager’s role at Tottenham.

Gold appeared in a live video on Football.London’s Tottenham page and he spoke about the managerial situation at Spurs. He also discussed the links to the Rangers boss, stating that he can’t imagine Fabio Paratici looking at Gerrard as an option unless Daniel Levy wants him.

Is Gerrard good enough to manage Tottenham?

Yes

No

No

The journalist also stated that he hasn’t heard anything about these links. He claimed: “I don’t know if he fits the type that Paratici would look for. I can’t imagine Paratici coming in, picking his head coach for his director of football structure and thinking: ‘I want Steven Gerrard.’

“It may be that it’s a Levy thing, if there’s any truth behind it. I certainly haven’t heard anything about Gerrard.”

TIF Thoughts on Gerrard to Spurs…

Gerrard recently helped Rangers win the Scottish Premiership and it was the first trophy of his managerial career. He joined the club in 2018 and since then, Rangers’ points tally in the Premiership increased year-on-year.

It shows that the Englishman is certainly a manager who builds long-term projects, while his system relies on pressing high up the pitch and playing attacking football – something Levy has previously hinted he could be looking for.

He’s still only 41 and may only improve in the future, so appointing Gerrard may not be a bad idea for Spurs.
