Timbers Drop 2-0 Result against Colorado Rapids

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers dropped a 2-0 result against the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday night. The loss ended a three-game unbeaten streak for the Timbers.

Timbers On The Road


Tonight’s match was Portland’s first of three games that will be played on the road in a 10-day stretch. The Timbers will travel east to face the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, May 7 at Red Bull Arena for the first time since 2019. Three days later, Portland will take on LAFC as they travel to Los Angeles, Calif. to play in the Round of 32 in the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup at Banc of California Stadium.

Goal-Scoring Plays

COL – Diego Rubio, 30th minute: After winning a free kick just outside the 18-yard box, Diego Rubio placed a curling ball into the top left corner of the goal direct from the kick.

COL – Mark-Anthony Kaye (Michael Barrios), 90+5 minute: Michael Barrios dribbled through the right wing and crossed the ball to the top of the 18-yard box. Mark-Anthony Kaye cut the ball back, setting himself up to hit a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner of the goal.

Tonight’s result snapped a three-game unbeaten streak for Portland, dating back to April 9.

The Timbers allowed a goal for the first time in 210 minutes played tonight.

Yimmi Chara and Aljaz Ivacic made their tenth appearances in the 2022 campaign. They are the only players to start every match this season for Portland.

Y. Chara led the team in shots with three.

Ivacic recorded four saves. He has recorded four or more saves in seven matches this season.

Cristhian Paredes led Portland in duels won (6).

Marvin Loría recorded the most interceptions for the Timbers with five.
