August 13, 2021 – Major League Soccer (MLS) – Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON – Houston Dynamo FC host the Colorado Rapids for the second meeting of the regular season at 7:30 p.m. CT
on Saturday, Aug. 14 at BBVA Stadium.
The Dynamo were held scoreless on the road last Saturday in a 2-0 loss to Minnesota United. Midfielder Adalberto “Coco” Carrasquilla made his Dynamo and MLS debut, days after joining
the club on loan from FC Tauro in Spain. The midfielder finished with one key pass, one interception and two recoveries in his 25-minute shift. Additionally, defender Ian Hoffmann made his MLS debut last Saturday as a second half substitute. The 19-year-old
joined the Dynamo in 2020 and made his professional debut with Rio Grande Valley FC last summer against San Antonio FC on Aug. 29, 2020.
The Dynamo will have additional depth on the team sheet this Saturday with the return of attackers Darwin Quintero, Ari Lassiter and Maxi Urruti to training earlier in the week.
Houston will need additional depth in the final third after missing Tyler Pasher last Saturday. The Dynamo will also be without Darwin Ceren after the MLS Disciplinary Committee extended his suspension by a game after the red card he received on Aug. 4 against
Austin FC.
The Rapids have earned 11 points from their last six games and enter Saturday’s game with a 3-3-1 record away from DSG Park. The Rapids backline has been key to their success this
season. Colorado has only conceded 16 goals this season, the second fewest in MLS. The Rapids earned three points in the first meeting between both teams earlier this season. Colorado also enters the game with a slight edge in the all-time series with a 13-10-10
record against the Dynamo.
The Dynamo travel to Utah on Wednesday to face Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium. Houston returns to BBVA Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 21 to host FC Dallas.

Here are three key points ahead of Saturday’s game:â¯
DYNAMO IN NEED OF POINTS:â¯The Dynamo look to capitalize on a homestretch where five of their next six games will
be played at BBVA Stadium. Houston faces a challenging stretch as they enter Saturday’s game winless in their last 11 matches. Houston has earned seven points in that stretch and currently sit just five points out of a playoff spot. Four of the five matches
at BBVA Stadium will be against direct opponents for a playoff berth, beginning with the match tomorrow evening against Colorado. The Dynamo are unbeaten at home this season and look to extend that run prior to their first road trip after the homestand on
Sept. 15 when they travel west to face the Los Angeles Galaxy.
THREE ATTACKERS RETURN ON SATURDAY: Forwards Ari Lassiter, Darwin Quintero and Maxi Urruti will be eligible to play
on Saturday after missing the last three games due to health and safety protocols. Urruti leads the team with six goals this season and Quintero was one of the go-to substitutions for the Dynamo and featured in five consecutive games prior to missing the match
against Real Salt Lake on July 31. Lassiter has not featured for the Dynamo since June 26 due to international duty. Lassiter scored his first international goal for Costa Rica and tallied an assist during the group stage of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup.
COLORADO BACKLINE KEY TO STRONG RUN OF FORM:â¯The Rapids have only conceded 16 goals this season, the second fewest
in MLS and enter Saturday’s game with four clean sheets in their last six games. Colorado has earned eight clean sheets this season, tied for the most in league play with Nashville SC. The backline is anchored by Auston Trusty and Keegan Rosenberry, who have
played every minute for the Rapids this season. Goalkeeper William Yarbrough enters the game with 40 saves and a 1.00 goals allowed average. The Rapids shot stopper finished with three saves in the first meeting with the Dynamo on May 15.
