Super Eagles To Face Archrival Ghana or Benin

In the final round of the qualifications for the 2023 African Nations Championship, the Super Eagles will face either Ghana or Benin Republic (CHAN).

In the first round, Ghana and Benin Republic have been matched together.

In the second round, the winner of the two-legged match will face the Home Eagles.
The first leg of the match will take place in August, with the rematch taking place in September in Nigeria.

The overall champions will be guaranteed a spot at CHAN 2023.

After missing out on the last edition, which was hosted by Cameroon, the Home Eagles are hoping to return to the biennial championship.

The Eagles finished second in the 2018 edition, which was held in Morocco. They were defeated 4-0 by the Atlas Lions.

In Cameroon in 2020, Morocco successfully defended their title, defeating Mali 2-0 in a thrilling final at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.

For the first time in the competition’s history, 18 teams will compete for the grand prize.

From January 8 through January 31, 2023, Algeria will host the competition.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) organises the CHAN, which features only players who have competed in their respective national championships.
