God knows that Arsenal have had some vital players missing during their horrendous start to the Premier League season.

The Gunners have suffered back-to-back defeats by Brentford and Chelsea to leave Mikel Arteta’s side 19th in the table.

And with a clash against Premier League champions Manchester City on the horizon, things might yet get worse for Arsenal.

Thomas Partey, Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Ben White are just some of the players Arteta hasn’t been able to call upon [White started the first match against Brentford] but Gabriel Magalhaes is another who doesn’t command many column inches.

The Brazilian defender, a £27 million signing from Lille last summer, has missed both of Arsenal’s games this season through injury, along with a number of friendlies.

But it looks like Gabriel is back in some form of training ahead of facing Manchester City on the weekend and here’s how some fans of the North London club reacted on Twitter:

Massive

Saturday’s trip to Eastlands probably comes too soon for the big centre-back – and tonight’s League Cup clash away to West Brom definitely comes too soon.

But longer term, having Gabriel back is huge for Arsenal.

He was arguably Arteta’s best defender last season and no doubt the Spanish coach is dreaming about the day he can pair him alongside £50 million addition White.

It’ll be after the international break before the duo partner one another but, when it happens, Arsenal should improve – well, in theory.
