Shanghai Shenhua have continued their proactive winter transfer window with another trio of signings, taking their total to seven so far.
The team have once again gone for experience with all three players being 30-years-old or older.
The two biggest names arriving in China’s largest city are former Guangzhou Evergrande veterans Zeng Cheng and Feng Xiaoting, who have arrived on loan after both were deemed surplus to requirements after many years with the Southern Chinese club.
Feng Xiaoting played a role in all eight of Guangzhou’s Super League titles since joining the club in 2011.
The 34-year-old made 305 appearances in all competitions for the Guangdong club, also helping to lift two AFC Champions Leagues, two CFA Cups and four Chinese Super Cups.
33-year-old goalkeeper Zeng Cheng also brings with him years of experience and success, playing a role in six league title successes, both AFC Champions Leagues and half the number of CFA Cups and Super Cups as Feng Xiaoting.
He established himself as a regular starter for the Chinese National team in that time, earning 42 caps before the emergence of Shanghai SIPG’s Yan Junling.
Shenhua’s third signing comes in the form of 30-year-old defensive midfielder Zhu Baojie, who arrives from Beijing Renhe on a free transfer.
The former Guangzhou R&F and Shanghai Shenxin player, who has 162 Super League appearances in his career, joins an overloaded midfield group that also saw Qin Sheng and Stephane Mbia also arrive during this transfer window.
