Lazio and Torino shared the spoils, with a match lacking real goalmouth action handing Serie A its first goalless draw of the 2022/23 season.

A scorching Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino hosted one of the most intriguing fixtures of this second gameweek. Lazio and Torino began the affair with a positive mindset after their success in the opening matchday. However, it felt as if Ivan Jurić’s men were hungrier.

A spell of pressing and counter-pressing from the hosts saw Lazio fail to construct a well-oiled attack. And it remained the story for the rest of the first half, with the away side attempting just one shot during the first 45 minutes of the game. Torino had a fair number of chances and attempted more shots. But they could not heavily threaten Ivan Provedel either.

The home side started the second half with the same intensity. Sarri seemingly needed to make a tweak or two to change the shape of the game. Vanja Milinković-Savić denied Ciro Immobile’s venomous strike in the 54th minute of the game. After that, Torino had a few chances.

Lazio gradually started ramping up the pace of the attack, with a few clear-cut opportunities in the next few minutes putting the Torino defence in danger. The additions of Toma Bašić and Marcos Antônio somewhat changed the nature of the game for Lazio, with the visitors now seeing more of the ball in their attacking half. A lacklustre end to the game witnessed Lazio and Torino dropping their first set of points. Here are the player ratings from their first draw of the new Serie A campaign.
