Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzic has reacted to their defeat against Werder Bremen.

“We’re talking about a deserved defeat,” said Terzic in a press conference. “But it’s still massively annoying when you’re 2-0 up in the 88th minute, even though it wasn’t a great performance from us.

“We were lucky to have the lead at the break. We started the game quite well and forced Werder to go wide when they tried to run at us, but then we gave away too many balls and had to defend a lot.

“Nevertheless, we managed to score the second goal in the second half. I think that, despite a weak performance, when you’re 2-0 up at home, you have to win the game.”

Werder Bremen are the first club in Bundesliga history to score three goals in the 89th minute or later. Speaking about the conceded goals, Terzic added: “We concede the first goal from a throw-in, where we don’t control the situation. The last two goals came from counter-attacks. We are clearly on the ball.

“You can debate whether it was a foul on Gio Reyna before their second goal but we shouldn’t be giving away possession so easily. Werder were rewarded after a great fight and deserved to win.”

Borussia Dortmund took a 2-0 lead through Julian Brandt and Raphael Guerreiro but conceded in the 89th minute through Lee Buchanan, Niklas Schmidt equalised and Oliver Burke scored a winner for Ole Werner’s Werder Bremen five minutes into stoppage time.
