São Paulo keen on Marseille’s Dario Benedetto

Having been usurped by Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik, who joined from Napoli last season, Dario Benedetto’s wildly inconsistent spell at Marseille may be coming to an end.

As reported by RMC via Globo Esporte in Brazil, the São Paulo FC president explained that his club were looking to sign the Argentine forward but there remained much to finalise. “There is an interest on our part,” he said. “There are have been good discussions between Sao Paulo and Marseille but we are not at the stage where there are only a few details to settle.”

Benedetto has managed 17 goals in 69 outings for OM since moving to France in 2019, 11 of those strikes came across 26 Ligue 1 games during a solid debut league season. The 31-year-old has also been linked with Spanish club Elche and a return to former side Boca Juniors.
