‘I THOUGHT I WAS SIGNING FOR THE OTHER DUNDEE!’
By Robert Thomson
Tim Akinola could make his debut in tonight’s Dundee derby – after first thinking he was being targeted for a move to Dens Park.
The 20-year-old moved to Dundee United from Arsenal on loan yesterday and hopes to get the nod when the Tayside rivals meet this evening.
He said: “I knew there were two Dundee teams, I looked it up and actually thought it was the other one!
“Then I was told it was Dundee United, so I did my research on the club.
“I saw the club was sitting seventh in the league so I thought ‘lets go’ and wanted to get it done.
“I am excited for the derby and if I am selected then I’ll be giving my all on the pitch.
“This move just came up recently so I pounced at the opportunity to come to the Scottish Premiership.
“It’s a good opportunity to come to a club like this, I want to be involved and play in most of the games.
“I am not that familiar with the league but it is getting bigged up more, I know James Maddison was here.
“So it is a place young players like myself can come and learn.”
