The Hoops ran out 2-1 winners over Hearts at Tynecastle to keep up the pressure.

But the Rangers boss was ‘very proud’ of his team for overcoming a stuffy Livi side as he opened up on return timeframes for some of his big name stars.

Speaking after the game, he told RangersTV: “I’m very proud as it was a difficult game in very difficult circumstances.

“If you see the chances we created in the first half and in the second half, but you don’t score, its’ gong to be difficult as the time ticks on.

“But I am happy with the subs we could do – Scott has been out for a while but he could play the last stage of the game and he changed it, so I am really pleased for Scott, pleased for the team as we kept fighting to win the game and that is what we did, so the three points today was big for us.

“It was good to have [Scott Arfield] in the squad and also able to put him in the game – it was the same for Kemar [Roofe] and the same for Ryan [Jack] as well, so it is looking good as the injured players are coming back and for the weekend, we have Joe [Aribo] back and also Ryan Kent, so I am really pleased.

“It is not easy because when you play against the low back, you need to be very accurate in the passing, you need to be accurate in the movements and the speed of play we wanted, it was very difficult because of the circumstances.

“That is why we were struggling a little to find the spaces, but I think we created enough chances to win the game so I was really pleased when at least once chance went into the goal because that made us the winners today.”

The Scottish champions are back in action this coming Saturday as they travel to Dingwall to face Ross County in the lunchtime kick-off.
