BUENOS AIRES, June 26 (Xinhua) — Racing Club rose to third in Argentina’s Primera Division standings on Sunday with a 5-0 home victory over Aldosivi.

Emiliano Vecchio gave Racing the lead in the 39th minute by rifling home a 20-yard effort and Enzo Copetti doubled the lead four minutes later with a cool finish after Tomas Chancalay’s through ball.

Leonardo Sigali continued the procession with a 55th minute strike before Rufino Lucera added to the visitors’ misery by deflecting the ball into his own net.

Jonathan Gomez added a fifth goal when he latched onto Maxi Romero’s through ball before slotting a low shot past Jose Devecchi.

Racing now have nine points from five matches, four points fewer than leaders Newell’s Old Boys. Aldosivi are last in the 28-team standings with one point from five games.

In other Primera Division fixtures on Sunday, San Lorenzo were held to a 1-1 home draw by Tigre, Sarmiento held hosts Platense to a goalless draw and Arsenal Sarandi drew 1-1 at Argentinos Juniors.
