BUENOS AIRES, July 10 (Xinhua) — Martin Ojeda scored one goal and set up another as River Plate’s wretched run of form continued on Sunday with a 2-0 home defeat to 10-man Godoy Cruz in Argentina’s Primera Division.

Ojeda put the visitors ahead with a long-range effort in the 21st minute and he turned provider three minutes later by setting up Gonzalo Abrego with an inch-perfect cross.

Godoy Cruz were forced to play more than half the match with only 10 men after Gianluca Ferrari was shown two yellow cards in less than a minute.

River also ended the match with 10 men on the pitch after Rodrigo Aliendro was shown a straight red card for a violent challenge on Juan Andrada.

Marcelo Gallardo’s men are now 15th in the 28-team standings with eight points from seven matches while Godoy Cruz are fifth with 13 points, two points behind leaders Newell’s Old Boys.

In other Primera Division fixtures on Sunday, Central Cordoba drew 2-2 at Estudiantes, Racing Club won 1-0 at home to Independiente, Huracan prevailed 3-2 at Lanus and Atletico Tucuman clinched a 2-0 home victory over Gimnasia.
