BUENOS AIRES, July 9 (Xinhua) — A first-half strike from former Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo could not prevent Boca Juniors from stumbling to their third straight defeat in Argentina’s Premier Division on Saturday.

Rojo put Boca ahead in their visit to San Lorenzo with a 28th-minute header after Sebastian Villa’s cross.

But the hosts equalized in the 38th minute courtesy of an Agustin Giay strike and Adam Bareiro gave San Lorenzo the lead just before the hour mark when he headed home from close range.

Bareiro missed the chance to extend the lead when he sent a penalty attempt wide after Rojo brought down Malcom Braida.

The result leaves Boca 13th in the 28-team standings with nine points from seven matches while San Lorenzo are eighth with 10 points.

In other Primera Division fixtures on Saturday, Union Santa Fe won 3-2 at Banfield and Arsenal Sarandi prevailed 1-0 at Patronato.
