Nine football fans arrested after street rammy before Hearts v Celtic game

Nine football fans have been charged after a street rammy before a Hearts v Celtic game earlier this year.

A major police presence was sparked by the disturbance outside of Tynecastle Stadium in Edinburgh around 6pm on Saturday July 31.

Nine men, aged between 17 and 36, have now been arrested and released on undertaking to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.

In a video posted on social media at the time, people are seen congregating in the streets outside the stadium and chasing each other.

Cops were forced to step in a disperse the crowd as both groups run down McLeod Street and on to the A71.

A police investigation into the disorder remains ongoing to identify others involved.

Chief Inspector Scott Richardson, Area Commander for Edinburgh South West, said: “While we have made a number of arrests in relation to this incident, our investigation is ongoing to identify those involved in the disorder.”
