Player to watch: Karl Toko Ekambi (Lyon)
To say Karl Toko Ekambi began this season on a slow note is an understatement. The 29-year-old Cameroonian forward started each of Lyon’s opening six Ligue 1 matches and mustered just two assists. He’d come off the bench next time out against Troyes before registering his first goal against Lorient on matchday eight. Last time out he got back on the scoresheet meaning he’s scored twice across his last three games in France’s top flight which is as many as in his previous 18. This weekend’s opponents also happen to be Toko Ekambi’s favourite Ligue 1 opposition; across seven previous appearances — while representing Angers and then Lyon — he’s bagged six goals with one of those strikes coming in Les Gones away success (1-4) last season.
