Atalanta vs Udinese live stream, predictions & team news

[ad_1]

Atalanta will be looking to put their disappointing Champions League defeat to Man Utd behind them when they host Udinese in a Serie A showdown at Stadio di Bergamo on Sunday morning (11:30 UK time).

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side already find themselves off the pace, and have won just one of their last three league fixtures, while The Friulians seek to end a long winless run and pour further misery on The Goddess.

Atalanta vs Udinese build-up & previous line-ups:

La Dea were left in a state of shellshock at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men faced a Man Utd side under considerable pressure and subsequently raced into a 0-2 half-time lead. The Red Devils were galvanised following the break and ran out sensational 3-2 winners. They’ll be hoping to put that behind them when returning to domestic action this weekend. Last time out in Serie A the Bergamo-based club ended a two-game winless streak by inflicting a 1-4 defeat on Empoli which leaves them sitting in sixth in the young championship table. Heading into the ninth round of fixtures, Atalanta are 10 points behind leaders Napoli, but in four previous home matches this season they’ve registered one win (2-1 v Sassuolo) while losing twice against Fiorentina (1-2) and Milan (2-3).

It’s a different story regarding Udinese who come into Sunday’s showdown having put together a five-game winning streak (three defeats and two draws). Before this unproductive run Luca Gotti’s side began the season with two wins across their opening three games which included a 2-2 comeback draw against Juventus on matchday one. If they were to return home with a point this weekend then Udinese would have drawn three Serie A games in a row for the first time since March 2020 (four). Their record on the road this season has been somewhat mixed. A 0-1 success at Spezia was followed by a narrow 1-0 defeat against Roma though last time out they held their own when facing Sampdoria by registering a 3-3 stalemate.

Player to watch: Luis Muriel (Atalanta)

This upcoming game means a lot to Colombian marksman Luis Muriel who previously bagged 15 goals across 57 league appearances for Udinese, his first European club, before embarking on a journeyman-like career. Since joining Atalanta in the summer of 2019 he’s netted 41 times in 74 league appearances with one of those goals coming this season. If we expand and include Muriel’s other Serie A clubs (Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Lecce) then he’s previously faced Udinese on 11 occasions while striking nine times with eight coming in an Atalanta jersey. This makes The Little Zebras his favourite opposition in Italy’s top division.
