WHAT TO WATCH FOR

Magic Number at 5: Saturday’s match is pivotal to the playoff push for both clubs, with the sides entering the game one point apart in third and fourth-place, respectively. A win for Greenville ,combined with two clubs in the trio of Tucson, North Texas, and Toronto drawing or losing, would see the Triumph join Omaha and Chattanooga clubs to clinch a playoff spot. A win for New England would make Greenville’s 10/23 match against Chattanooga that much more important for the Upstate side.

Going streaking: Greenville streaks in to Saturday riding a six-match unbeaten streak. During their run, they’ve drawn a white-hot FC Tucson and dealt an extremely rare home loss to Union Omaha to prove they belong amongst the league’s best clubs. New England enters the match as a different team than the one that conceded a hat trick to Marios Lomis in a 3-0 home loss at Gillette Stadium. With only one loss in New England’s last five matches, Triumph head coach John Harkes knows how critical the opening minutes of the match will be as they look for another win.

“The way we start has been very good during our run, and we’ll need to set the tone right away against a quality side,” said Harkes. “Can we press early and get immediate pressure, cause chaos. If we do that, we favor our style of play in this and any game.”
