Present in Marseille yesterday for the opening of a new digital health centre in the district of the city in which he was born, la Castellane, Zinédine Zidane encountered a number of fans, both of his and of Olympique de Marseille, as is almost always the case whenever he returns to the city.
These fans were recorded begging the World Cup winner not to join the capital city side, following discussions between him and the club for the role of manager. Zizou reacted with a simple smile. The video was posted on Twitter by BFM Marseille Provence.
In regards to the health centre and his district, Zidane said: “As you know, I’m from la Castellane, I grew up here with my parents. We always have the same heart even if we have left.”
According to the regional agency of health, la Castellane, one of of the poorest regions of Marseille, is “less equipped than the rest of the city in terms of GPs and specialist doctors.”
