Reports stemming from Spain have credited Manchester United with an interest in Getafe midfielder, Mauro Arambarri.
Who is Mauro Arambarri?
Mauro Arambarri, after spending a year on loan in Spain, would join Getafe on a permanent basis in July of 2018.
Getafe are understood to have paid Uruguayan outfit Boston River just shy of £2m for his services.
The 25-year-old has since become a regular feature for the Spanish outfit, notching 141 appearances across all competitions, in which he has scored six and assisted six.
Arambarri has had a particularly impressive 2020/21, which also saw him earn his first caps for Uruguay at the back end of 2020.
Man United linked with Arambarri
Now Arambarri, who is contracted to Getafe until 2023, appears to be attracting interest from some top sides.
Spanish outlet AS are claiming that Atletico Madrid are showing some interest in the midfielder.
However, that same report claims that the club that has the most interest in Arambarri is Premier League side, Manchester United.
It is added that representatives of Man United have already contacted Arambarri’s ‘environment’ to convey their interest.
In terms of a potential fee for Arambarri, AS add that the midfielder has a release clause of €25m.
But, do Man United actually need to be targeting Arambarri?
His natural position sees him take up something of a box-to-box role, where he is able to contribute at both ends of the pitch.
However, when looking at Man United you would argue they need a very defensive-minded midfielder to be added to their ranks as they already have players such as Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek who play more central roles, rather than as a CAM or CDM.
