An insight into Manchester United’s summer plans has been provided as it has been revealed which players the club have been scouting recently.

Manchester United are by no means the finished article and fans are no doubt expecting a big summer window, which should be their first under a new permanent manager.

Whoever does become United boss will obviously want to put his own stamp on the side, but the club do already look to have some targets/positions to strengthen in mind.

As per the Manchester Evening News citing the Mirror, Manchester United have sent scouts to watch both PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo and Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha.

Who are Cody Gakpo & Joao Palhinha?

Cody Gakpo is a player who has spent his entire career on the books of his hometown club, PSV.

The Eindhoven-native has featured on 121 occasions for PSV’s senior side. In said games, he has scored 34 and assisted 31.

Gakpo, who is a natural left-winger, is having a particularly fruitful 2021/22 season, which has so far seen him notch 13 goals and 13 assists in 33 outings across all competitions – a fantastic return for a winger.

As for Joao Palhinha, he is a defensive midfielder who has made 86 appearances for current side, Sporting.

The 26-year-old has experience in Europe and would likely be a solid addition to a Manchester United side who are crying out for a new defensive midfielder.

And with Anthony Martial now at Sevilla and Mason Greenwood released on bail, Manchester United currently do not have too many wide options.

So, it would make sense for the club to be eyeing a winger and midfielder this summer – though fans would also no doubt like to see a striker signed as well.
