Manchester United’s Premier League matches against Brentford and Brighton have been plunged into doubt.
It was announced on Monday that the Red Devils’ Carrington training complex had been closed down for 24 hours due to an outbreak of Covid-19.
The decision was made “to minimise risk of any further infection” following a small number of positive cases amongst first-team players.
United are now in talks with the Premier League over potentially postponing their match at Brentford on Tuesday night.
Additionally, it’s also been confirmed that there has been a Covid-19 outbreak at United’s following opponents, Brighton & Hove Albion.
Graham Potter saw his side’s game at the weekend against Tottenham postponed due to Spurs’ Covid infections.
Now the Seagulls boss has confirmed there has been “three and possibly four” positive tests in his camp.
Although Brighton’s match with Wolves on Wednesday is still going ahead, the situation could develop over the next 48 hrs meaning that game, plus Saturday’s trip to Old Trafford, could be impacted.
Ralf Rangnick will be keen to continue his unbeaten start and to avoid a fixture pile up but, with health and safety the number 1 priority, the Premier League has a decision to make.
