As initially revealed by Mohamed Toubache-TER and confirmed by L’Équipe, 31-year-old French central defender Mamadou Sakho is in advanced negotiations to join Montpellier on a free transfer from Crystal Palace after his contract with the Premier League club expired last month.
An agreement in principle has been reached over a medium-term contract – MHSC boss Olivier Dall’Oglio has been seeking to find a replacement for Daniel Congré and Vitorino Hilton, who are both leaving the club as a free agent. Sakho had major offers from the Middle East but preferred to return to France. He views Montpellier’s project to be ambitious.
