Malawian star striker Gabadinho Mhango is set to swap Orlando Pirates for AmaZulu in South Africa, according to reports.
South Africa media reports say the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) star will join the Durban-based side in a swap deal with Thapelo Xoki from AmaZulu.
The media reports quoted AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu as having confirmed discussions with Pirates owner Irvin Khoza over the deal.
“Dr Irvin Khoza did contact me personally about Thapelo Xoki and we’ve spoken. I respect him for the way he handled it, so Xoki will leave us, he played his last game yesterday and Gabadinho Mhango is joining us,” he said.
Pirates have continued to sideline Mhango despite that he was among the top performers at the last AFCON where he scored three goals in three games.
Mhango guided Malawi to their first ever Round of 16 at AFCON in Cameroon.
AmaZulu have landed Mhango a day after also confirming Brandon Truter as the club’s head coach role having served in interim capacity following the exit of Benni McCarthy.
