Leeds United: Fans rave over Charlie Cresswell

[ad_1]

Leeds United fans on Twitter have been sharing their praise for Whites defender Charlie Cresswell and his performance during the club’s recent Carabao Cup victory over Fulham.

This comes after The Athletic’s Phil Hay shared a post on his official Twitter page after the Yorkshire club managed to beat Fulham 6-5 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in 90 minutes at Craven Cottage.

In his post, Hay said that he thought “the balance of the side was about right” between the senior players and the U23s players that were involved in the match as it helped the younger players perform.

One player the journalist picked out that played well during the match against Fulham was Cresswell, who Hay said is “19 going on 29″.

This post then caught the attention of a lot of Leeds supporters, who were quick to share their thoughts on the player.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to Hay’s post about Cresswell’s performance against Fulham?

“Watching Charlie Cresswell has made me even more confident that Liam Cooper should not be in our team”

@BenjiDixon17

“Cresswell is unbelievable”

@LufcTj93

“Looks like a future captain”

@somisak72

“I think he deserves to start on Saturday. MOTM for me.”

@Harrylufc

“Cresswell was immense, so so impressed”

@exofried

“Cresswell was sublime. Him and Pascal for years to come. Looked like he’d been playing 1st-team football for years”

@JWGaunt4

Looking at the replies to this post from Hay, it’s clear to see that this group of Leeds supporters were also very impressed with what they saw from Cresswell during the match.

Taking into account how the defender had more touches (121) of the ball against Fulham than any other Leeds player and managed to earn himself a higher overall match rating (7.81/10) than any of his teammates on the day according to WhoScored, it’s easy to see why the 18-year-old has gathered so much praise from these fans on Twitter.

Would you start Cresswell against West Ham?

Yes

No

No

Moving forward, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side set to take on West Ham United in the Premier League at the weekend, we feel that Cresswell should be given a chance to play given how the likes of Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Luke Ayling could be out through injury and Pascal Struijk still serving a ban.
