Barcelona and Juventus are no strangers to swap deals
The return of Massimiliano Allegri to the Juventus bench opened the door for some possible reunions. None more so than the potential return of Miralem Pjanic.
Juventus are seeking to take advantage of the fact that he is no longer wanted in Barcelona and the Catalan side’s desperate attempt to move him on.
However, given the financial constraints caused by the pandemic, the Serie A giants are not going to want pay a substantial fee for the Bosnian midfielder. Therefore, they are going to have to be creative.
According to Sport, Juventus has proposed a swap deal with Barcelona that would see Pjanic go back to his former club with midfielder Aaron Ramsey headed to the Camp Nou.
The two sides have priors in this sort of deal as it was only last season that Pjanic arrived in Barcelona for Arthur Melo. The deal was strange in a way but it amounted more or less to a swap.
The hurdle that must be overcome, if a deal is to progress, is the salary of Aaron Ramsey. According to Football365, Ramsey does earn less than Pjanic but his wages are still a high €7.5 million.
Barcelona are in the process of cutting their wage bill and are unlikely to want to take on the Welshman’s wages. It’s one of the reasons why they’re trying to offload Pjanic in the first place.
Pjanic has no place in Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona and his preferred destination is to go back to Serie A. He was a big part of the team under Allegri and would be keen on a reunion.
