Ianis Hagi could be back on the pitch for Rangers sooner than expected – his famous father Gheorghe has revealed.
Romanian legend Gheorghe says his son is “feeling better and better” after contracting Covid while representing his country in North Macedonia.
The playmaker, much to the relief of the Light Blues, has not been forced to isolate in the country after fears he could be out for up to three weeks due to quarantine rules there.
Those who test positive with symptoms are ordered to isolate for 20 days in North Macedonia, where the Gers star was diagnosed with the virus after complaining of “slight headaches” prior to a World Cup qualifier.
Hagi was in danger of missing Thursday’s Europa League visit of Lyon to Ibrox and domestic fixtures forthcoming against Motherwell, Livingston and Dundee had he been symptomatic.

However, Hagi Snr has revealed the Govan wide man is back home in Romania as he prepares to return to Scotland and back in the fold for Steven Gerrard’s men in the next two weeks.
Hagi Sr said: “Ianis is fine, he is at home, he is feeling better and better.
“He is undergoing treatment and we hope to get out of isolation as soon as possible.
“He is at home, in Bucharest.”
The fact Hagi is isolating in Romania is important as current rules in his homeland require 14 days of isolation.
That means the attacking midfielder should be free to leave isolation on September 21 so could be available to face Livingston.
